Why This Spanish Village Is in France
Llívia is a small village in the French Pyrenees. But it belongs to Spain. It has 1,700 people. The village sits high in the mountains. Llívia is part of Catalonia in Spain. A short road connects it to Spain.
This happens because of history. In 1659, France and Spain signed a treaty. They divided the land. Spain gave 33 villages to France. But Llívia was a town, not a village. So Spain kept it.
Today, Llívia follows the old treaty. People want free travel. No big police groups enter. It is a special place.
